Clause 1. The Council of Bishops shall
recommend to the Synod, for the appointment of the Moderator and Deputy
Moderator and express such recommendation through the Presiding Moderator.
Clause 2. Express opinion in respect to
the matters of Faith and Order, as and when referred to it by the Committee of
Reference on Faith and Order or the Executive Committee or the Synod.
Clause 3. Express opinion in respect to
the matters of discipline as and when referred to it by the Court or the
Executive Committee of the Synod.
Clause 4. Assist the Moderator to draw
plans for the training of all Bishops.
Clause 5. Shall express the opinion of the
Church of North India on National and Global concerns of the Church through its
Clause 6. On the Council of Bishops is
laid the responsibility of publicly stating, as per the need, the doctrines of
the Universal Church as understood by the Church of North India, and its
application to the problems of the age and of the country. However, the Bishops
acting as a body shall issue such statements only after consultation with the
representatives of the Presbyters and laity, and no such statement shall have
any force as a rule of the Church until it be adopted as such by the Church.
